Our Programs
It all begins with a need. Eta Nu is committed to improving life for community members of all ages in Boyne City.
Dress for Chill
Dress for Chill has provided new winter outerwear for Boyne City Elementary, Head Start and pre–School children for 17 years. The project began after we learned that some children were being held inside during recess because they did not have outerwear. In 2023 we dressed 221 children and the numbers will be even higher this year. We raise funds to purchase boots, snow pants jackets hats and gloves. We shop year-round to find warm outerwear at discounted prices from local merchants. Each October we organize the clothing by size, and then dress each child to ensure a proper fit. Once fitted, the children go happily home with their brand-new winter outerwear.
Fall Family Project
The Fall Family Project is aimed at providing new clothing to a Boyne family in need. Funds raised by club members and donated by the community are allocated for this purpose.
July 4th Fireworks
Proceeds benefit the Boyne City Fireworks Fund This committee organizes members to collect donations from the public attending the Boyne City July 4th Parade. The committee purchases items out of Eta Nu funds, prepares the items to distribute during the parade in exchange for donations. Eta Nu Apron wearers solicit funds before the parade and march in the parade. Friends and family may also volunteer as Eta NU apron wearers. The Girl Scouts have also provided support. Sisters may voluntarily contribute to the Boyne City Fireworks Fund. The Committee also collects donations at the Farmer's Market and Stroll the Streets. Boyne Eta Nu is a long-standing platinum fireworks sponsor.
Litzenburger Place
Boyne City's Litzenburger Place offers 53 rental apartments to low income individuals age 62 and older as well as disabled adults. Eta Nu service commitments to these residents include the following:
A Fall Litzenburger Dinner and Winter Breakfast -
This committee notifies the residents, plans, prepares and serves an evening meal to residents of Litzenburger Place who sign up for the meal. The food is purchased or donated, prepared and served by Eta Nu members and is at no cost to the residents.
Lights of Love
This committee collects funds by having donors purchase one or more lights or hearts dedicated to a specific person/people to hang on the Lights of Love holiday tree. The tree is displayed in a public location in Boyne City. The tree lighting takes place in early December. The public is invited to come for the tree lighting, sing holiday carols and attend a light dinner at a local restaurant. All proceeds from donations for lights and hearts benefit Hospice. Since the inception of Lights of Love, Boyne Eta Nu has given over $120,000 to Hospice.
